Swedish HealthTech company Brainsafe recently participated in two innovation events in Frisco, Texas, presenting its brain assessment technology to representatives from healthcare, professional sports, research, and the investment community.
The visit provided an opportunity to introduce Brainsafe’s technology to the US market and explore potential research and clinical partnerships.
Connecting with Leaders in Healthcare and Sports
On October 20, Brainsafe’s Co-Founder and CEO, Justus Bejnö, was invited to present at an innovation event hosted at Baylor Scott & White Health’s Sports Research and Therapy facility in Frisco.
Organized through the Plug and Play innovation network, the event brought together approximately 50–70 invited participants, including representatives from the Dallas Cowboys, Texas A&M University, and Baylor Scott & White Health.
The discussions focused on emerging technologies and opportunities for collaboration across healthcare, sports, and research.
“Bringing together healthcare providers, researchers, and professional sports organizations creates a unique opportunity to explore how new technologies can improve brain health assessment and concussion care,” says Justus Bejnö.
Advancing Objective Brain Assessment
Brainsafe develops digital solutions for neurological assessment and concussion rehabilitation.
A key focus is pupillometry, a technology that measures how the pupils respond to light. By analyzing pupil responses, Brainsafe is investigating how objective physiological measurements can complement traditional clinical assessments and provide additional insights into neurological function.
Alongside this technology, Brainsafe offers digital tools for cognitive testing, structured concussion rehabilitation, and recovery monitoring.
“Our ambition is to make brain function assessment more objective and accessible. By combining physiological measurements with established clinical methods, we believe we can support better-informed decisions in healthcare and sports medicine,” explains Bejnö.
Exploring Opportunities in the US
Brainsafe also participated in the Plug and Play Frisco Sportstech and Travel & Hospitality Expo, connecting with startups, investors, healthcare professionals, and other members of the local innovation ecosystem.
The two-day visit highlighted the potential for future collaborations with US healthcare and research organizations, particularly in the development and clinical validation of new brain assessment technologies.
“The US is an important market for us, not only commercially but also from a research perspective. Building relationships with leading healthcare and research organizations is an important part of taking our technology forward,” says Bejnö.
