This week, the Brainsafe team had the opportunity to visit Baylor Scott & White Health in Frisco, Dallas, to present Brainsafe Pro and discuss the future of objective neurological assessment with clinicians and researchers working in neuroscience and brain health.

Representing Brainsafe were Justus Bejnö, Tony Pansell and Patrik Alm, bringing together experience from sports medicine, neuroscience, vision science and technology.

More than a conversation about concussion

Although concussion was the starting point, the discussions quickly expanded into broader neurological applications.

One topic that generated particular interest was the role of objective physiological measurements, such as the pupillary light reflex (PLR), and how they could complement today’s clinical assessments. As research continues to evolve, there is growing interest in tools that can provide fast, repeatable and objective information to support clinical decision-making.

While Brainsafe Pro is currently focused on concussion assessment and recovery, the underlying technology has potential applications across several neurological conditions that are actively being explored by the research community.

Demonstrating Brainsafe Pro

During the visit, we demonstrated how Brainsafe Pro measures the pupillary light reflex using only a smartphone, producing objective measurements within seconds.

The demonstration led to valuable discussions around digital biomarkers, clinical workflows, and how objective measurements could be integrated into everyday neurological practice. It was encouraging to hear different perspectives from both clinicians and researchers and to exchange ideas around future possibilities.

Collaboration moves healthcare forward

Meetings like these are an important reminder that meaningful innovation rarely happens in isolation.

Progress comes from bringing together clinical experience, scientific research, and technology to solve real-world healthcare challenges. Throughout the day, we discussed current needs within neurological care, ongoing research and opportunities to collaborate in the future.

These conversations are an important part of ensuring that new technology is developed together with the people who will ultimately use it.

Looking ahead

We left Dallas with new perspectives, valuable feedback and several exciting ideas for future collaboration.

We would like to thank Kayla Calhoun and the entire team at Baylor Scott & White Health for the warm welcome, the engaging discussions, and the opportunity to present Brainsafe Pro.

We’re excited to continue working alongside clinicians, researchers and healthcare organizations who share our ambition of improving the way brain function is assessed and monitored.

This is just the beginning.
